From Sketch to Sparkle: The Story Behind Our Highland Cow Earrings ✨
Every piece of jewellery starts with a spark of inspiration. For these Copper and Silver Highland Cow Drop Earrings, it was a photograph sent in by a customer — two majestic Highland cows staring straight into the lens, their fringes tousled by a Highland breeze and their personalities shining through.
That moment — proud, wild, and unmistakably Highland — became the seed for a new design.
We wanted to capture that front-facing confidence, the gentle strength these animals exude, and of course, their wonderfully shaggy coats. But it had to be wearable, elegant, and unmistakably Fresh Fleeces.
🖊️ Design Process
Let’s be honest: my sketchbook won’t win any art prizes (as anyone who’s read the blog knows 😅). But while the drawings are… abstract, the idea was clear: strong silhouette, expressive horns, and texture — lots of it.
I chose copper for the coat to bring out that warm, rust-toned charm of the Highland breed, paired with sterling silver detailing to add contrast, depth, and sparkle. The horns had to curve just right — not too wild, but with attitude.
🔨 Crafting the Final Piece
Each earring is handmade in our small workshop, carefully sawn, soldered, and textured by hand. The copper is layered to create that rich, hairy coat effect — no two cows (or earrings!) are quite the same. Just like in nature.
The end result? Earrings that feel bold but refined. Rustic, but with polish. Perfect for Highland cow lovers — or anyone who appreciates a bit of rural charm with their jewellery.
