Eddie: Cathy's Wire Haired Dachshund
Eddie was Cathy’s cute-as-a-button wire haired dachshund, with those soulful eyes, scruffy little eyebrows and a beard full of character.
Cathy got in touch to ask if I could make a charm bracelet that looked just like her special boy. As soon as I saw Eddie’s photographs, I knew his face would make the perfect piece. With wire haired dachshunds, it is all in the tiny details, the texture of the coat, the shape of the muzzle, the wonderfully expressive eyebrows.
So I created Eddie’s head in sterling silver, carefully building up the layers by hand before engraving texture into the metal to recreate his wiry coat. I added touches of rose gold to bring warmth into the piece and highlight his little nose and muzzle.
Even though the charm was small, I wanted it to feel unmistakably Eddie.
Cathy chose to have him attached to one of my silver charm bracelets, so she could carry her lovely old man with her every day.

And when her parcel arrived, she sent me this message:

I think dog owners instantly understand the meaning behind the words “lovely old man.” Because dogs like Eddie become woven into everyday life. Their familiar little faces become part of home itself.
This charm bracelet was never just about making jewellery. It was about capturing Eddie’s personality in silver and rose gold, so Cathy could keep a tiny piece of him close, every single day.
