Two Little Lolas for Two Little Adventurers

I love making memorial jewellery, but it’s also really lovely when I get to make something for a dog who is very much still here, enjoying life with their family.

Moire contacted me because she wanted to order two necklaces for her two young sons, both featuring their much-loved tricoloured Border Collie, Lola.

Lola is very much part of their adventures. She loves going off exploring with the boys and their family, and this year she even travelled with them to Europe, spending time together in the mountains.

So these weren't necklaces to remember Lola by one day. They were little reminders of the dog who is right there beside them, joining in with all their adventures.

Moira wanted two tiny Lola necklaces, one for each of her boys. And making them tiny was definitely the tricky part!

I was delighted to hear from Moire afterwards that the boys “LOVE their Lola necklaces.”

And I think there's something particularly sweet about making jewellery for children featuring their dog. They'll be able to wear their little Lolas on all sorts of adventures of their own, while the real Lola continues to race around the mountains, go exploring and generally make sure she's involved in whatever the family is up to.

One day, these tiny necklaces might become precious reminders of their childhood dog. But for now, they're simply a little piece of Lola to take with them wherever they go.
