Ezra: A Yorkshire Terrier Full of Personality!
Some commissions arrive full of excitement right from the very first message.
When Stephanie got in touch, her enthusiasm was impossible to miss. She had seen one of my charm bracelets and immediately knew what she wanted:
“I would like to have a bracelet made like your pig charm bracelet but with my Yorkie. If I sent a picture would that be doable!?? Your jewellery is stunning and adorable!!!!!”
I always smile when I read messages like that. You can feel the love for the dog before you have even seen a photograph.
When Stephanie sent through pictures of her little Yorkie, Ezra, I could see exactly why. He had that classic Yorkshire Terrier expression, bright, alert and full of personality. And those ears. The kind that instantly define the dog
With pieces like this, especially on a bracelet, the charm needs to be small but still unmistakable. It has to carry the character of the dog in just a few millimetres of silver.
I created Ezra in sterling silver, carefully shaping his tiny face and adding texture to reflect his fine coat. But it was his ears that I kept coming back to. They had to sit just right. Not too flat, not too sharp. Just enough lift to capture that alert, lively look.
Because if the ears are right, the dog is right.
Stephanie had asked if I could permanently solder the charm onto the bracelet, which I always recommend when someone wants to wear their piece every day. It keeps everything secure, no risk of it slipping off, no worrying about clasps.
Once finished, Ezra sat perfectly on the bracelet, small but full of presence.
““Oh my gosh!!!! I just got the bracelet!!! You captured his whole personality!!!!! And his ears! I love it and you are an amazing artist!!!!!! THANK YOU”!”
Then came Stephanie’s message when it arrived:
“Oh my gosh!!!! I just got the bracelet!!! You captured his whole personality!!!!! And his ears! I love it and you are an amazing artist!!!!!! THANK YOU”
That made me smile.
Because that is always the goal. Not just to capture what a dog looks like, but who they are. Their expression, their energy, the little details that make someone say instantly, that is him.
Ezra is now there with Stephanie every day, right where he belongs.
