Three Little Pugs, Always Together

When Kyle contacted me, he wanted to commission something very special for his wife, a brooch featuring their three Pugs.

He sent me photographs of all three, an older fawn male, a small female who was pictured in wheels, and a brown and fawn male.

What really struck me when I saw the photographs was how different each of their little faces were. I knew that making them side by side would create a lovely portrait of the three of them together.

Sadly only the darkest dog was still alive. That made the commission particularly poignant. Although one of the Pugs was still very much there , the brooch would also bring the other two back together with him, keeping all three dogs side by side.

I proposed making the three dogs facing forward, with the smaller female in the middle and the larger dogs either side.

When the brooch was finished, I sent it off to Kyle, knowing that this wasn't simply a gift for his wife. It was a way of bringing three much-loved dogs together in one special piece.

Two of them may no longer be there, but in this little silver, gold and rose gold brooch, they're side by side again. And I think that's one of the loveliest things about making custom pet jewellery. Sometimes you can create something that holds an entire little family together.
